What will break me into a million pieces so that I am beyond repair, beyond usefulness?

Suzanne Collins
About This Quote

When people think about breaking someone down, they often think about destroying them. However, if you break someone down to the point where they are beyond repair, you will have done nothing but make them stronger. A lot of people are afraid to work hard because they don’t want to be broken. But what is broken? It is that person who used to be able to do all sorts of things but no longer can.

What is broken is that person who used to be strong and now has lost all ability to perform physically. What is broken is that person who used to be an expert at something and can’t do it anymore. What is broken is that person who used to have a lot of knowledge about something but now has none left.

The only way to break someone down is to make them useful again. This means there are two ways you can break someone down: one way being physical and the other being mental.
